According to an internal doc leak, it's looking more and more like the Pre could hit May 17th (or somewhere thereafter) as internal Sprint docs point to the 16th as the required Pre delivery date.

Ultimately, we're sure that even if it's after the 17th, the Pre's release will be before June 8th, the first day of WWDC when, presumably, Apple will give a keynote introducing their latest products. The Pre has been able to build incredible momentum, and there's no way that Palm or Sprint want to lose this energy to unforeseeable Apple hysteria. [Engadget]
