The Week in iPhone Apps: Deus ExZeus

Let's just get this out of the way right now: if you like Japanese mecha, lasers and iPhone games, get ExZeus. Holy shit.

ExZeus: If you fast forward to around two minutes in, you'll see what I'm talking about. Built by Japanese devs HyperDevBox, ExZeus is based on an obscure shooter-on-rails game that's found its was in some form to Japanese arcades, Dreamcast, PS2 and Wii. Now it's on the iPhone in probably its finest form, going beyond traditional rail shooters with great accelerometer controls (which you can calibrate for sensitivity and orientation to play lying in bed too. which should be a MUST for all motion games. Plus the plotline involves an alien holocaust delivered by an asteroid. Need any more convincing? I's $5.

iSperm: I can't believe no one has thought of this yet: the premise of this game is to guide your sperm (with rose in hand!) down a slightly-too-realistic Fallopian tube to the motherland. $1

Remote Mic: Lets you bug a room with your iPhone. Working kind of like the opposite of AirPhones, the app that routes your computer's audio to your iPhone headphones, Remote Mic sends audio back from the iPhone's mic to a client app on your Mac, allowing you to listen in and record. $1

Bargain Bin: Now the snake is really swallowing its tail—Bargain Bin is an app that helps you more effectively and cheaply acquire other apps by letting you know when they go on sale. Apparently Apple was a little nervous about this, as it sat in approval purgatory for quite some time, but it's out now, for bargain hunters everywhere. Free
